Sarracenia Purpurea grows along the Eastern seaboard, Great Lakes region, Alaska, Washington & Canada. However, most varieties along the Gulf Coast of the US that were once identified as Sarracenia purpurea, like ssp venosa, have since been reclassified as Sarracenia rosea. The best way to know what subspecies it is, is by it's geographical location where it is found.
